If you are going to the Fraser Island, you have to hire a tour. Or you can rent a D4 car, which it is pretty expensive. But there are not internal buses. We tried to hike to one of the lakes, but signs were confusing (at some point it said 6km, 10 minutes later it said 7.5km, and we were walking in the right direction...) And whether you like it or not, you have to go to the resorts they have built in the island... So, if you don't like those tours in which you spent a lot if time in the bus, you stop 1 hour for a coffee in every resort, and only have 10 min to take pictures in the places you want to visit, I don't recommend this island. It's a pity, because I'm sure the beaches are beautiful....
At least we took some nice pics and saw some goannas climbing trees.
